About Lynda Sydney
Lynda Sydney is a freelance copywriter from Toronto, Canada. She grew up in West Hill, right at the end of the Lawrence and York Mills bus lines, both of which ran very infrequently. She spent many cold winter evenings after school waiting for the bus, so she dreamed of driving from an early age, believing it to represent true freedom. She was barely 16 when she got her first job and with her precious first paycheques, saved for driving lessons at Young Drivers of Canada. Just after her 18th birthday she bought her first car, a light blue 1978 Honda Civic hatchback.
Today, she still loves to drive, although with the ever-increasing Toronto traffic it is becoming more of a challenge. Another challenge is taking her car in for an oil change as so often the mechanic comes out with a laundry list of repairs—what actually needs to be done for safety and maintenance reasons, and what is just the service centre “fear mongering” in an attempt to jack up the price?
Like many women, when it comes to service and repairs for her car, she wonders if she is being taken for a ride. Her goal with CarChick.ca is to seek out experts who can educate women like you about car service and repairs, to help you feel confident when facing the dreaded car service professional. She will also provide driving tips from specialists, offer information on road tests with different car models, share ideas for courteous and responsible driving to help reduce road rage, and much more. And of course, learning is done best if you’re having fun!
Her driving dream: On a weekend when the Don Valley Parkway is closed to traffic, to drive a bright red Ferrari flat out from the 401 all the way to the Gardiner Expressway!
